DWP and ATOS – not fit for purpose

Like their benefactors the DWP, ATOS has rapidly developed into a sham organisation that attracts shouts of “not fit for purpose”.  While its boss, Keith Wilman was paid £626,000 last year and the firm has been given a new £300million three-year contract as a reward for its poor performance in attracting high levels of ‘customer’ complaints at the same time as producing highly inaccurate reports.

Keith Wilman is the latest in a long line of quango bosses who is paid an extraordinary sum of money for a job poorly done.  His salary comes from the public purse and no one is acting to bring the DWP to task over its selection and use of companies like ATOS – who makes these decisions and why is an outside contractor required to do the job of a government department that already costs the tax-payer £195billion a year to administer?
